Meet Our Administrator:

Mrs. Emily McDoniel

Mrs. Emily McDoniel is a veteran teacher at St. John’s who has stepped up to the role of Head of School. “This is a new position in a school which I love. It is my pleasure to be associated with every student, every parent, and every faculty/staff member at St. John’s, and I am very excited about the upcoming year!”

Mrs. McDoniel is a native Odessan who graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with certification in reading as well as kindergarten endorsement. She is certified to teach pre-school through eighth grade.

A long-time teacher, Mrs. McDoniel taught two years in Midland ISD and six years in Ector ISD. She has spent nineteen years teaching at St. John’s where she has enjoyed what each year brings. Having taught first grade for the past several years, she always looks forward to the first of school. “This year I will get to share the learning experiences of all the students. These are activities I do appreciate.”

Besides teaching, Mrs. McDoniel also served as head of children’s choirs, served on the Odessa Symphony Board, was on the board of the OHS Choir Boosters, and served on the Friends of St. John’s Board (as both a parent and a teacher).

Mrs. McDoniel enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, meeting with her book club, being a member of her church praise team, scuba diving and zip-lining. She and her husband, Randy, have five children.

“I truly believe that St. John’s Episcopal School is a gift for children, families, faculty/staff, and church members. We must work together in the best interest of all our children. To be able to educate God’s children in a supportive environment is a blessing in itself.”
